Yikes - we are so far behind in the planning of this - and it is only weeks away.
But I think we knew we would be as we decided to make this Art Show an annual event. As creatives we need a deadline!
But this year has been a little unfair!
First things first - my art statement. Odia needs it for the post card. Here it is.
Art touches my emotional need to express myself. I feel that I touch something divine when I am painting with white - so my favorite art is white paintings. I have entitled these paintings Implicits because for me they depict the “absolute” moment where everything is held in place with a film of white. However, I do resort to painting pewter when things feel gray and confused. Discord can present itself in black and whites, but I prefer a blend. These are my Pewters. I have done a few of those lately.
I also need to express myself through writing. Sometimes I feel I have little control of my own story so one way for me to understand it, ponder it, and resolve it, is to write it out. I have entitled this book, This Mortal Coil. This time it seems right to release a book as a piece of art – rather than an intellectual exercise. It has been the art of writing that has helped me feel it all.
