Reviews
“Like a good painting, we were challenged to set a mood, lay down a foundation colour and study the subject from various points of view. I had to take a look at what was going on in the world around me, the subtle and not so subtle influences in my life. Politics, world issues, family, friends, school, work, religion and faith, (or lack thereof), all played a part in who I am and how I got here.” - S
“It was good to have deadlines to get motivated gathering the basic information on my life and putting it “on the record” so to speak. It was fascinating to discover some of my own family background records. I appreciated the exercise of examining my life and myself in using the four parts of our personhood. That was revealing and instructional for me.” - C
“After 8 weeks of exploration, writing and reading, I am seeing myself and my life in a new way.” - S
“We all have some baggage that we carry, but this course has given me permission to stop on the road, take a breath and see what’s in the luggage and how much I need to carry forward, and what I can leave behind. This experience has given me some new questions to find answers for, and that is the goal of art.” - C
“Loved your “unconditional encouragement” on a continual basis! It made me and everyone else feel good about what we were doing.” - C
“I saw it as a writing course, but also as a structured way to reflect on what the past could tell me, and inform me what future I could build for myself that wouldn’t be flitting from one thing to another, the whole time denying my profession.” - J
“I have to say that Wilma made the class fun and provided an environment where everyone felt comfortable and no one was afraid to be a participant in any of the discussions we had in the class. The instruction was always clear and came with great explanations and illustrations so that we could grasp what was required of us.” - W
“There were discussions on certain topics that at times were personal and at times the class felt like a therapy session which really in the overall scheme of things was a good thing.” - W.
“Having a deadline as a writer is important and this type of teaching method certainly helped with that and was much appreciated. I would highly recommend taking this coarse if you ever get the chance. It’s fun, informative and will get you to where you want to go as a writer.” - W.
“The ZOOM format worked very well. And I very much appreciated how each participant was given time to speak, and to explore their thoughts.” - W
“I appreciated very much the Power Point presentations that you prepared so creatively. Your Course has been a celebration of Creativity! The Eight Week Course was none too long. In many ways I am sorry it is over.” - W
“I cannot be more appreciative of the affirmation that went on as I delved into taking the first steps of writing out my life story.” - K
“It gave me new eyes to see with and a mind to comprehend in greater ways the wonder of the creation of me, that there were purposes in both the trauma and the joy. Wilma has a way of drawing thoughts and ideas out of you with the prompts she gives each week and courageously lead us with affirmations galore which gave us the safety to openly share what we were learning in the process.” - K
